UW to put money into two key projects
(2008-11-13)
(wpr) - The Cheyenne supercomputer may be delayed for months unless the University of Wyoming offers cash to keep it going. University vice president Rick Miller says U-W should put forward 3.5 million dollars for the project. Otherwise, it will have to wait until early next year for the legislature to work out a problem with the funding.
"We need to be creative in making sure that things keep on track as opposed to saying we don't want to approach our work at u.w. that way."
The legislature must go through a series of steps to free up federal money for the project. Miller says a University-sponsored clean-coal project has a similar problem. He says he still expects the state will reimburse the University when the legislature meets in January.
