Cheyenne Supercomputer Would Model Climate CHEYENNE, WY (wpr) - The National Science Foundation has given
the go-ahead for the initial design phase of a climate-modeling supercomputer in Cheyenne.

That's according Eric Barron, director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo. Barron announced the development in an e-mail to staff on Friday.

The 100,000-square-foot facility would be built just east of Cheyenne. When complete, it would be one of the world's fastest computers.

A local economic development corporation, Cheyenne LEADS, has been working closely with NCAR officials to bring the supercomputer project to Cheyenne.
