Wolf Illegally Killed In Northwest Wyoming
(2008-05-15)
(wpr) - A wolf has been shot illegally in northwest Wyoming. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department says it's the first known illegal killing of a wolf in the state since the animal was de-listed in March.

The Department's Eric Keszler says there's a three thousand dollar reward for information that leads to a conviction.

We want to let the public know that we're serious about prosecuting anybody involved in illegal activity related to wolves, especially illegal take of wolves and this is an opportunity for the public to help us out.

The wolf was found near highway 26 east of Moran Junction. It's an area where wolves cannot be shot on site, because they are managed as trophy game and can only be hunted in season. Sixteen wolves have been killed legally in Wyoming since de-listing outside the trophy game zone.
