The Gray Wolf Is Delisted

(wpr) - The gray wolf was taken off the endangered species list in the Rocky Mountain region today.

The Deputy Secretary of the Interior, Lynn Scarlett, says she's confident that the action will stand up to any legal challenge.

In 30 days, the ruling will become official and Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho will take over management of wolves from the federal government.

The Natural Resources Defense Council says the future of wolves is not safe under the state plans. The group will sue to challenge the delisting.
