EPA Asks BLM To Revise Pinedale Plan
The EPA's Larry Svoboda says the current plan could contaminate ground water with the carcinogen Benzene and put an unhealthy level of ozone in the air, a pollutant that can cause respiratory problems.
"We're talking about levels of ozone that are approaching the national ambient air quality standards, with known and very well-documented health effects," Svoboda said.
In assessing the plan, the EPA gave it the worst possible rating, which Svoboda says doesn't happen very often.
