Supreme Court Ends School Funding Suit LARAMIE, WY (wpr) - A Supreme Court ruling effectively ends court oversight of the state's funding of public schools. After 35 years of legal battles, the Supreme Court finally ruled that the financing systems put in place by the legislature meet Constitutional muster. An attorney for the state, Michael O'Donnell, says this marks the end of major litigation on a very long and complicated case.

Meantime, attorneys and state lawmakers are welcoming the decision. Cheyenne attorney Patrick Hacker represented the coalition of school districts and education groups that filed the lawsuit against the state. He says he's satisfied with the court's decision, but he'll be watching how the state funds the schools in the future.
