Motorist accused of dragging pedestrian
Court records say the driver had gone to the bar after he posted bail and was released from jail following his arrest Saturday evening by the Wyoming Highway Patrol on allegations of drunken driving.
Thirty-nine-year-old Douglas Downs of Casper, was charged today with felony driving under the influence and felony aggravated assault in connection with the dragging. He also was charged with driving under the influence in connection with the earlier arrest.
Authorities identified the victim as Jeffrey Irene, 40, of Casper.
Natrona County District Attorney Mike Blonigen says that Irene was listed in critical condition at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. Attempts to reach a hospital spokesman were unsuccessful Monday afternoon.

Police say that a Casper man struck a pedestrian with a sport-utility vehicle while leaving a bar parking lot early Sunday morning and dragged the man for more than a mile, causing critical injuries.
