Snowmobile advocates with plan for Sylvan Pass
The Park Service announced its decision Tuesday that it will keep Sylvan Pass open to snowmobiles as long as there's no avalanche danger.
Carol Armstrong of the group Shut Out of Yellowstone says she's glad the Park Service reversed its original proposal to close the pass in the winter, but she says she still disagrees with the decision to only allow professionally-guided snowmobile trips.
"That's still is an issue, but we can't win on all fronts, all at the same time, so we're happy we have an opportunity just to keep our pass open," she says.
Armstrong says that her group will meet with the Park Service through a mediator in early December to discuss how the Park will keep avalanche danger under control.
