BLM Creates New Pindale Plans
It would allow for a larger drilling area, while suspending drilling leases on the east and west sides of the area. BLM spokesman Steven Hall says that the effect of the plan, called Alternative D, should be a smaller impact on wildlife.
This new Alternative D would include some additional participation by industry, a larger area for this core development to occur, but also protections for some areas that had not been protected before.
In addition to that plan, the BLM also presented Alternative E, which tries to fully anticipate the impact of current development if no changes are made to the status quo. The details of both plans will be made public in early October.
