Wyoming's Wage Gap Among The Worst
(2007-04-24)
(wpr) - In Wyoming, for every dollar a man makes, a woman makes 57 cents. That makes Wyoming's wage gap among the worst in the country. Nationally, women get about 77 cents for every dollar a man gets. State officials have been working to improve the wage gap but they say results have been mixed. Teresa De Groh is the chairman of the Wyoming council for Women's issues and she says the pay inequity has been enhanced by the energy boom in the state. The Wyoming Business Council's Diane Moser says getting women to be more aggressive about pay diversifying the economy and getting Wyoming women into non traditional jobs that pay more are among the solutions.
