Atlantic City will host a Gold Bust Festival on Saturday, Aug. 2, featuring food, music, gold panning, arts and crafts, demonstrations, and games. Special guests for the event will be Bill and Beth Sagstetter, authors of Mining Camps Speak, A New Way to Explore the Ghost Towns of the American West. They will be giving an illustrated talk on little-known techniques for unraveling the secrets of ghost towns. The Sagstetters have been exploring the backcountry of the American West and Southwest for over 50 years. They have authored and published five books and produced four prime-time documentary films for television.
Again this year, space will be available for anyone who wants to demonstrate their craft or to sell art, crafts, or other wares. Bring your own table. Call 705-8870 or 332-0915 for more information. Visitors can expect pottery, rock jewelry, quill and bead work, quilts, hand-made soap and lotions, wood sculptures, pen and ink drawings, paintings, handmade knives, and books.
