Join us to hear firsthand the fascinating story of Caesar….
Since 1993, more than 40% of the skeleton of a sub-adult allosaurus has been retrieved by geologist Michael Flynn, his son Brian, and other volunteers, from the vicinity of Poison Creek Quarry near Buffalo, WY. In 1999, paleontologist Bill Matteson began reconstructing the skull and discovered that the allosaurus rested on private property belonging to Mr. Summerfield K. Johnston Jr., who graciously donated the specimen to Sheridan College. The allosaurus, “Caesar”, was delivered to Bozeman, MT to be worked on by Michael Holland, who specializes in reconstructing large theropod dinosaurs. He is currently bringing Caesar back to life, and a full reconstruction of the entire skeleton will be displayed in the new Sheridan College Edward A. Whitney Academic Center this coming summer.
