Health care industry in Ohio ATHENS, OH (WOUB) - The health care industry plays a big role in the economies of Ohio's 79 rural counties.

So says the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs.

They have just issued a report which says the health care industry is directly responsible for nearly 10 percent of employment in rural Ohio.

Health care in the rural counties generate a payroll of more than 11 billion dollars.
