Athena Cinema's New Goal ATHENS, OH (WOUB) - The goal of the Athena Cinema is to become the premier art-house cinema in Southeast Ohio.

The movie theater has opened its doors again and is now under the management of the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University.

OU owns the Athena and Ruth Bradley is executive director.

Bradley says they want to start showing more retrospective films and special screenings.

Bradley adds that they're going to branch out because their basic mission is to fully intensify film culture in Athens.

The Athena will focus on contemporary independent films, world cinema and select documentaries.

It closed over the summer after OU got rid of an independent manager and studied what to do with the theater. © Copyright 2009, WOUB
