Presidential Politics in Athens County
(2008-09-19)
(WOUB) - Presidential politics makes its way to Athens County today.

Governor Ted Strickland was in Athens urging voters to get behind Barack Obama.

The governor spoke to a group of supporters at Ohio University.

While gas prices and the War in Iraq remain a concern, Governor Strickland addressed the plans Barack Obama has to fix the economic problems acing rural Ohioans.

Meanwhile, John McCain's people were at the Athens County Republican Headquarters to welcome Lancaster resident Colonel Tom Moe.

Moe, a former POW with McCain in Vietnam and NOW the chair of Ohio Veterans for McCain, spoke about the Arizona senator's commitment to veterans.

According to the A-F-L-C-I-O, McCain's voting record shows that he does NOT support veterans affairs, but Moe says that claim is just not right....

Moe says he's trying to convince McCain to make a campaign stop in southeast ohio before the election.
