Ohio Federal Heating Aid
(WOUB) - Ohio will receive 4.9 million dollars as the Bush administration releases 121 million to help the poor pay the record heating bills expected this winter.

Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt says the funds will address the energy emergencies that low-income families face during the cold weather months.

Lawmakers and heating aid advocates had pressed President Bush to provide more money through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Officials at the state level predict that home heating oil costs
will hit new highs this winter.

The national average cost to heat a
home with oil this winter is expected to be $2,524, up from $1,962 last year.
