WVU expected to start presidential search
Virginia University is expected to get under way soon.
The university's Board of Governors is to meet Friday to approve the process for finding the next president.
C. Peter Magrath took over as interim WVU president on August 1 after Mike Garrison resigned over a master's degree scandal
involving the governor's daughter.
Since then, the state Higher Education Policy Commission has issued an emergency rule for how the state's public colleges and universities should conduct presidential searches.
The new policy is expected to make the hiring process more transparent and encourage more affected parties to participate.
It's also designed to curb tinkering by a school's governing board. © Copyright 2009, WOUB
