SE Ohio to get Housing Improvement Awards

(WOUB) - Several communities in southeast Ohio are getting grants from the state to improve housing.

According to a press release from the Ohio Department of Development, 62 Communities across Ohio will received funds from the Community Housing Improvement program.

Athens County is slated to get approximately $422,000, the City of Athens will get nearly $216,000 and Chillicothe is in line for $544,000.

In addition, the Department of Development says the city of Zanesville will be awarded approximately $517,000 from the Neighborhood Revitalization Grants to improve and install street sewage systems, roads and other infrastructure improvements.

The city of Chillicothe will receive approximately $471,000 for the same purpose.

In a separate grant, the Department of Development says an additional $9.4 million will be awarded to 19 communities including Gallia, Guernsey, Muskingum and Noble counties through the federally funded Water and Sanitary Sewer Program to improve the water and sanitary systems in each community.
