Strickland announces budget cuts COLUMBUS, OH (WOUB) - Governor Ted Strickland says Ohio has to cut an ADDITIONAL half a billion dollars out of the state budget to keep from going into the red.

That's in addition to 733 million dollars worth of budget cuts announced in January.

Strickland says the state university tuition freeze is EXEMPT from the cuts but money heading to counties from the state is NOT.

Strickland's comments came at a news conference this hour in Columbus.
