33 Closed Near Lancaster
(WOUB) - A leaking propane tank has prompted evacuations and shut down a highway near a central Ohio business.

People have been asked to leave 30 homes and six businesses within a half-mile of a gas company near Lancaster.

Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen said "Shortly before 11am apparently a truck backed into a pole. The pole fell striking a large propane tank at blue flame gas, just south of Lancaster, the valve on the take broke and started leaking gas."

U.S. Route 33A - the business route through downtown Lancaster - is closed in both directions southeast of the city.

Phalen says the road could be closed for several more hours.

There have been no reports of injuries.
