WV tax holiday begins
(WOUB) - A tax holiday has started for West Virginia consumers.

People who buy certain energy-saving appliances won't have to pay West Virginia's 6 percent sales-and-use tax the first week of September. The state's first Energy Star sales tax holiday runs
Sept. 1-7.

The tax break applies to certain products worth a maximum of $2,500. Energy Star dishwashers use at least 41 percent less energy, while washing machines can save nearly 7,000 gallons of
water each year.

Qualifying appliances carry the Energy Star label.
