OU professor reacts to Obama's speech
(WOUB) - African American delegates from Ohio said they were thrilled and even overwhelmed.

Attending the Democratic National Convention, they reacted last night to Barack Obama becoming the first African American to accept a major party presidential nomination.

In Athens, Ohio University professor John Smith says it was a significant moment in history.

Smith said, "The history of race in this country has been fought with a lot of bumps and bruises and potholes and this is a pretty significant thing. Quite honestly I never thought i'd see it in my lifetime."

Smith, who himself is black, says the fact that this happened on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "dream speech", is extraordinary.
