Strickland speaks at Democratic National Convention
(2008-08-27)
(WOUB) - Democratic governors lined up last night at the Democratic National Convention in Denver to criticize Republican John McCain and offer a chorus of praise for their party's presidential nominee, Barack Obama.

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland focused on economic issues.

He chastised McCain for saying Americans are better off because of President Bush's policies.

Strickland brought down the house with a remark about how Bush had blown the budget surplus left behind by President Clinton.

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin is encouraging politicians to follow the state's example to bridge partisan
divides.

Manchin highlighted some of the successful economic steps West Virginia has taken.
