West Virginia suing Ohio company
(2008-08-27)
(WOUB) - The city of Huntington, West Virginia is suing an Ohio company that plans to build a barge-mooring facility along the Ohio River.

Mayor David Felinton says the city filed a lawsuit against Huntington Marine Services alleging breach of contract.

The lawsuit is Huntington's latest attempt to terminate its 20-year property lease with the South Point, Ohio-based company.

Felinton says the lease, which was originally signed in 1994, stipulates that Huntington Marine obtain a permit in a reasonable timeframe.

The company has filed at least four permit applications with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build the mile-long facility, which would accommodate up to 200 empty barges.

Huntington Marine argues that the city has worked to sabotage the project.
