(2008-08-25)
(WOUB) - A new poll among Ohio's registered voters
shows that John McCain and Barack Obama are in a statistical dead heat in the battleground state.

The poll from The Columbus Dispatch was conducted between August 12th and Thursday, before Obama announced his selection of Senator Joe Biden as his Democratic running mate.

The Dispatch found that 42% said they favor McCain, then presumed Republican nominee, while 41% are supporting Obama.

One percent each said they favor Libertarian Bob Barr and independent Ralph Nader, and 15% were undecided.

The poll has a margin of error of 2.2%.

Obama leads McCain among independents 37 percent to 33%, with 4% supporting Barr, 1% for Nader and 25% undecided.
