Ohio Congresswoman Dies
(2008-08-20)
(WOUB) - Cleveland Clinic spokeswoman Eileen
Sheil says Democratic Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones died at 6:12 p.m. today.

The 58-year-old Tubbs Jones suffered a brain hemorrhage caused
by an aneurysm that burst and left her with limited brain function.

She suffered the hemorrhage while driving her car in her Cleveland-area district yesterday evening.

Tubbs Jones was known to constituents as a gregarious lawmaker
who wore bright colors and smiled often.

She was the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress and a strong critic of the Iraq war.

Tubbs Jones was one of Hillary Rodham Clinton's biggest boosters
during the primaries and was to have been a superdelegate at next week's Democratic National Convention in Denver.

She switched her backing to Barack Obama in June.
