Strickland talks energy, education and economy in Logan
(2008-08-18)
(WOUB) - Governor Strickland will be talking energy, the economy and education during a trip to Southeast Ohio today.

Strickland and State Representative Dan Dodd are scheduled to tour Chieftan Biofuels in Logan this afternoon.

Chieftain Biofuels crushes soybeans purchased from farmers and makes them into soy meal and oil.

According to a press release, the products are then used in the processing of biodiesel and the byproducts of that process can also be used to clean oil and gas wells.

Dodd says Chieftan Biofuels is a good example of the kind of innovation needed to create new jobs in Ohio.

Dodd is a Democrat from Hebron running for re-election in the 91st House District.

He's facing Republican Bill Hayes of Pataskala in November.

Strickland is expected to promote his $1.57 billion economic stimulus plan during the stop in Logan.

The Governor will also be in Marietta this afternoon for the ninth in a series of 12 statewide meetings discussing education in Ohio.
