Republican Congressional candidate tours SE Ohio
(2008-08-14)
(WOUB) - Republican Congressional candidate Fred Dailey is making a swing through Ohio's 18th District today talking energy.

Dailey stopped at a B-P station this morning in Nelsonville.

He says the country needs a second "Declaration of Independence",this time from foreign energy sources.

The former State Agriculture Director says the U.S. needs to expand its off-shore oil drilling to help combat high energy prices and to be more independent from other countries for our nation's oil needs.

"We know at some point and time, fossil fuels will run out, and for the sake of our kids and our grandkids, and great great great grandkids, and our country. We need to be aggressively moving toward some of these alternative fuels, but in the meantime, we have to do more than just inflate our tires, ride our bikjes, and wait for the wind to blow," Dailey said.

Dailey has stops scheduled for Rockridge, McArthur and Zanesville today.

He is facing incumbent freshman Democrat Zack Space in November in the Republican leaning 18th district.
