Washington County runaway
(WOUB) - A Washington County man is facing charges in connection with a runaway attempt by teenage girl from Lower Salem.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says 31-year old Mike Babcock of Marrietta supplied the girl with food and shelter for two days.

The girl was originally reported missing Monday by her mother 44-year old Cindy Wallace.

Mincks says Wallace told the Monroe County Sheriff's office that her car had been stolen and believed her daughter had taken it order to visit Babcock.

The Sheriff says Wallace found the car Wednesday near Babcock's home in Marietta.

Shortly after the vehicle was discovered, deputies found the girl in the area and she said she had been with Babcock for two days.

Mincks says deputies believe Babcock helped conceal the car near his home.

He's charged with felony count of tampering with evidence and misdemeanor charges of obstructing justice and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Mincks says the girls has also admitted to having sexual relations with Babcock so additional charges are pending.
