Cleveland area man in jail for attempted abduction
(WOUB) - A Cleveland area man is facing two felony charges in an attempted abduction in Athens Tuesday night.

18-year-old Johan Londono made a first appearance in an Athens County courtroom yesterday on charges of abduction, obstructing official business and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge.
Police say Londono grabbed a 23-year-old woman from behind and placed what she thought was a handgun to her head near the Family Dollar store in Athens Tuesday.

They say a bystander came to Baker's aid, scaring Londono away.

Athens Captain Tom Pyle says it's reassuring to know that the people of Athens are willing to stand up for one another.

Pyle says the weapon Londono was holding turned out to be an airgun.

He adds that overall Athens is a safe community and incidents like this are rare.

Londono was arrested Wednesday afternoon after Athens police officers recognized him as a suspect wanted in another investigation in northern Ohio.

He's being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.
