Marijuana bust in Perry Co.
(WOUB) - State and local law enforcement agencies are showing off the results of a big pot bust in Perry County today.

The Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and the Perry County Sheriff's office have had a press conference in New Lexington to discuss the seizure of 6,000 marijuana plants in the county.

According to a press release, the joint state and local operation discovered a new trend of illegal drug trafficking in the region in which people are cultivating pot plants and living illegally on land that does not belong to them.

BCI spokeswoman Jennifer Brindisi says the crackdown busted some of these so-called "squatters" from turning the lands in to havens for crime and environmental destruction.
