National Register Nominations
(WOUB) - Belmont County's Quaker Historic District and Lawrence County's Downtown Ironton Historic District are proposed for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.

The National Register lists places recognized by the federal government that should be preserved for their significance in American history and culture.

National Register Manager Lisa Rupple says the Quaker Historic District covers more than 300 acres and includes the Friends Boarding School and Ohio Yearly Meetinghouse.

Barbara Powers of the Ohio Preservation Office says the Downtown Ironton Historic District reflects the history and development of Ironton during its peak historic period.

The Ohio Historic Site Preservation Advisory Board will review 16 proposed Ohio nominations to the National Register Friday .
