No suspects in pipe bomb or bank robbery cases
(WOUB) - Federal, state and local authorities are still trying to determine if two pipe bombs found at a pair of Athens County post offices yesterday are related to a nearby bank robbery.

Athens County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Dave Malawista says authorities are looking through F-B-I files to see if there have been any similar incidents elsewhere.

Investigators found papers and an unknown fluid inside a suspected pipe bomb in Guysville and an explosive in a second device in Stewart.

The bombs were discovered early yesterday morning and rendered safe by various agencies who finally ended an emergency situation last night.

Just about four hours after the bombs were discovered, the nearby Hocking Valley Bank branch in Coolville was robbed.

Sheriff Vern Castle says one man entered the bank with a rifle and walked away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Malawista says there aren't any suspects in either case at this time.
