Organic in Ohio
(2008-07-28)
(WOUB) - When you think of agriculture in Ohio, what comes to mind?

Corn and soybeans, probably since they're the two big crops.

But agriculture in the Athens area is a different ball game and for many, organic is the way to go.

Rich Tomsu practices what he preaches.

He's a certified organic farmer who regularly sells at the Athens Farmers Market.

He's also one of the featured farmers in a new book called "Farms and Foods of Ohio: From Garden Gate to Dinner Plate."

The book was written by Marilou Suszko.

A reviewer says the author "takes us on a sociological and culinary journey across the state's articultural communities" introducing the reader "to a surprising variety of agricultural producers."
