Damaged houses, blocked roads and thousands without power after storms
(WOUB) - The sheriff in eastern Ohio's Perry County is urging drivers to use extreme caution because of roads blocked by downed trees and other debris from storms that whipped much of Ohio overnight.

In Perry County, New Lexington Mayor Janine Conrad says she's had several reports of houses damaged by high winds. Junction City resident Stephanie Coyle says some homes there have had their porches blown off.

American Electric Power reported 25,000 central and southeastern Ohio customers had no power Tuesday morning, including nearly 4,800 in Perry County.

Duke Energy said close to 39,000 of its customers were out in southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky.

Cincinnati police were taking calls for neighboring Norwood, where the police department lost power around 2:30 a.m.
