House passes bill to improve Appalachian region
(WOUB) - The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Appalachian Regional Commission reauthorization bill.

The bill includes 65 million dollars over 5 years for Congressman Zack Space's Economic and Energy Development Initiative, which is planned to promote alternative energy jobs and research in the region.

The funds will support projects that increase the use of renewable energy resources and work towards a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

The ARC reauthorization has already passed the Senate, so it is now headed to the President for a signature.
