McCain Visits Portsmouth
(WOUB) - John McCain's lead in Ohio over Democrat
Barack Obama in one arena is narrowing - visits to the state since both became their parties' presumptive nominees.

McCain took his fifth trip in four months to the perennial swing state Wednesday with a town hall meeting in Portsmouth in southern Ohio.

A sixth visit to Cincinnati was planned for next week.

Obama scheduled a visit to Dayton Friday and Cincinnati Monday, his third and fourth respectively since successfully ending his primary battle with Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Aboard his "Straight Talk Express" campaign bus, McCain cited the case of the last person to win the White House without winning the state: John F. Kennedy.

He said Ohio is a "battleground state" in the heartland of America.
