AMP protesters get pepper sprayed
(WOUB) - Police have arrested eight people for
criminal trespassing at American Municipal Power-Ohio to protest
its plan to build a coal-fired power plant in Meigs County.

Columbus Police Lt. William Morrison says officers used pepper spray on about 20 people Monday at the company's headquarters in Columbus.

AMP-Ohio spokeswoman Jolene Thompson says the protesters broke a revolving door, set off fire alarms and threw shrimp at employees.

The protesters were from Earth First, an environmental activist group opposed to the coal-fired plant.

AMP-Ohio is a nonprofit corporation that owns and operates electrical plants and provides power to its members.
