ODOT State Route 149 construction
(WOUB) - A 5.7 million dollar project of the Ohio Department of Transportation is set to begin next Monday.

The project will relocate about 1.4 miles of State Route 149 in Bellaire.

The new road will be on an abandoned railroad bed.

ODOT Public Information Officer Becky McCarty says the project will make the road safer.

The construction will be done from 26th street near the State Route 7 interchange to west of the village's corporation limits in Belmont County.

26th Street will remain open as a one-way, temporary road to Washington Street.

However, Township Road 476 is expected to be closed for about two weeks this fall.

The project is not expected to significantly disrupt traffic.

The contractor is Shelly and Sands, Incorporated of Zanesville.

ODOT plans to have construction completed by June 2010.
