Budget cutting at Hocking College
(2008-06-27)
(WOUB) - Hocking College is going to implement a "recession budget."

That means cutting personnel costs by $550,000.

A news release says this is necessary because of "economic conditions."

Starting with the new fiscal year July 1, summer contracts will be greatly reduced, expiring contracts may not be renewed and all non-bargaining unit contracts will be analyzed for possible reduction.

Hocking President John Light says state funding is uncertain and by imposing reductions now, "the college will be in a better position to respond to future economic circumstances."

He says the state directed the college to construct a budget that identifies possible cuts of approximately $1 million.
