Big bucks for building at OU
(2008-06-26)
(WOUB) - The state's brand new capital appropriations budget allocates $29.5 million to Ohio University's main and regional campuses.

The largest share of Ohio University's funding -- $9 million -- will be used to complete construction of the 100,000-square-foot Academic & Research Center.

The center is a joint initiative of the Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine and Engineering and Technology.

The facility is scheduled for completion in October 2009 and expected to cost $30 million.

O-U says the school's allotment was $2.2 million shy of funding in the last biennium -- reflecting a decline in the total funding for capital improvements at colleges and universities across the state.
