AMP-Ohio to bring dam to Ohio River
(2008-06-18)
(WOUB) - An Ohio River dam in our region is part of plans that could bring manufacturing jobs to Ohio.

According to an AMP-Ohio news release, the company has entered into a contract with Voith Seimens Hydro to manufacture eight turbines and generators that could bring more than 200 megawatts of emission-free electric generation to the region.

The organization plans to develop three run-of-the river hydroelectric plants at existing dams on the Ohio River, including the Willow Island Locks and Dam nearly Waverly, West Virginia.

Voith Siemens Hydro's President says his company will manufacture many of the turbine components in Pennsylvania but is considering opening a new Ohio manufacturing plant if the state comes through with some incentives.
