Paul Pleads
(WOUB) - An Ohio man has admitted to conducting terrorist training in Southeast Ohio as part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.

Christopher Paul pled guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Columbus to a charge of plotting terrorist bombings against Americans overseas.

Under an agreement with prosecutors, the 44-year-old Paul faces 20 years in prison.

Paul, a U.S. citizen, was indicted last year.

As part of the plea agreement, he admitted to conducting hiking, camping, and other training operations in Burr Oak State Park with several members of his local jihadist group.

The activities in Burr Oak were to replicate terrorist training Paul had received in Afghanistan and Bosnia, according to a statement of facts read in court by an FBI agent.

The statement also said Paul began recruiting other people to establish a holy war group in Columbus.

Paul didn't make a statement in court.

He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction - specifically bombs - in terrorist attacks.
