New phone scam circulating Washington Co.
(WOUB) - The Washington County Sheriff is warning residents of a new phone scam circulating the county.

Sheriff Larry Mincks says two people have received fraudulent calls in the last two months from someone claiming to work with the Washington County Common Pleas Court and requesting personal information.

The callers says that the person answering the phone has failed to report for jury duty and may be subject to arrest.

Mincks says they then requested that person's personal information including birth date, social security number and verification of names and addresses.

The Washington County Court of Common Pleas does not routinely call persons who have failed to report for jury duty.
Mincks says if you receive such a call, do not give out your personal information.
He's asking residents try to get a name and phone number from the caller and contact the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
