Bucking the Trend
(WOUB) - New figures from the Ohio Realtors Association indicate the Athens area is bucking the downward trend for home sales so far this year.

From January to the end of April, sales were up slightly over the same time last year...and the average price was up nearly five and a half percent.

But for April alone, sales were flat compared to last year, and the average price for an Athens home dropped nearly eleven percent to just over one hundred twenty six thousand dollars.

Around the state, only Zanesville and Mansfield realtors have been selling houses ahead of last year's rate, but home sales prices were down EVERYWHERE in April, with the Portsmouth area taking the biggest hit.
