Warren Local school district will close two elementaries
(2008-05-20)
(WOUB) - The Warren Local School District is going to close two schools and reduce staff to save money.

The Board of Education decided last night to shut-down Bartlett and Cutler elementaries.

92 students attend Bartlett and 79 go to Cutler.

The vote was four to one.

It was four to zero - with one absention -to reduce personnel by nine.

Superintendent Tom Gibbs says that should save about 500-thousand dollars a year.

He says the actions are necessary to curb a projected budget deficit.

He says Warren Local is having problems because of a falling student population, over-staffing and the slumping economy.

The Bartlett and Cutler students will be assigned to the Barlow Vincent and Little Hocking schools.
