A professor's return to writing poetry is winning her awards
(2008-05-05)
(WOUB) - At 50 years old, Sandra Kolankiewicz decided to write poetry again.

And the Marietta College professor has been rewarded for her efforts.

Kolankiewicz won a literary competition for her collection of poetry called "Turning Inside Out."

Kolankiewicz says she started writing poetry when a child...began to write only fiction in her 20s...and 25 years later retuned to writing poetry.

The award was from Black Lawrence Press, which specializes in publishing books from authors' "seeking to get their collections out to the world."

It's her second prize for writing in 2008.

She also won the novel competition in the Hackney Literary Awards.
