"Seniors to Sophomores" program starts at OU regional campuses
(2008-05-01)
(WOUB) - Four Ohio University regional campuses will be some of the first to participate in the state's new Seniors to Sophomores program.

The Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster and Southern campuses will be partners with schools in their counties that were awarded $100,000 grants.

The initiative will help high school students earn high school and college credit simultaneously at no charge.

Students who take a full load of college courses during their senior year in high school will be able to enter a University System of Ohio institution as college sophomores.

The campus-local school partnerships are as follows:

Eastern campus and the Belmont-Harrison Vocational School District.

Lancaster campus and Liberty Union-Thurston Schools.

Southern campus and the Collins Career Center.

Chillicothe campus and the Chillicothe City Schools and Pickaway-Ross Career and Technical Center.

The program must provide students an opportunity to earn at least 36 college credits as seniors, and ensure that participating students also are able to earn their high school diploma through the program.
