OUCOM takes in more students
(WOUB) - With an expectation that the number of Americans 65 or older will double in the next 20 years, the medical community is under pressure to produce more physicians.

Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine is responding by taking in 12 additional students.

So next fall, enrollment for the new starting class will reach 120..

O-U-COM Director of Admissions John Schriner calls it responsible growth.

Schriner says they are trying to increase recruitment efforts to get more quality students in the program....but O-U's rural setting sometimes is a problem.

Schriner says plans call for the entering class to be about 120 for 2009 as well.
