Galbreath Phillips Dies
(WOUB) - The first woman to chair Ohio University's Board Of Trustees has died.

Jody Galbreath Phillips died Monday in Columbus at the age of 83.

After receiving her Bachelor's Degree from OU in 1946, Philips chaired the Board of Trustees in 1974, becoming the first woman in the position and only the second to serve on the board.

Along with her late husband Wallace, the Philips were the largest donors to the Athletic Department.

Philips also served on two presidential search committees for the university, leading to the naming of Harry Crewson and Charles Ping as the institution's 17th and 18th presidents respectively.
